Ice cream is loved by people of all ages and if you are tired of buying ice cream from ice cream parlors and stores then you can easily make it at home. Making ice cream at home is not a very difficult thing to do. There are very simple method which can be used to make a tasty homemade ice cream.
Here are some of the methods which you can use to make your very own homemade ice cream.
Cream-based ice cream:
It is a very easy recipe to follow and make your very own ice cream. You make a variety of flavors from simple base of vanilla ice cream. You need very simple ingredients in order to make up this ice cream.
Heavy cream: 2 cups
Milk: 1 whole cup
Sugar: 2/3 cup
Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
Cocoa powder/ chocolate ice cream: optional ½ cups
Mix all of these ingredients in a saucepan.
- Heat the mixed ingredients until the sugar inside the mixture melts.
- After sugar is melted properly, put the mixture in the ice cream freezer to chill it. The mixture should be covered when being chilled.
- Pour the chilled mixture in to the ice cream maker, and it may take one or more than one hour.
- Wait the ice cream is partially frozen and then add any flavor that you wish to enjoy. You can add any flavor like sliced strawberries, coconut, chopped peaches, chopped cherries etc.
- After adding the flavor, turn the ice maker back on so that freezing process can be completed.
Custard-based ice cream:
The ingredients required for this ice cream are as following:
Egg yolks: 4
Sugar: ½ cup
Cocoa powder/chocolate ice cream: optional ½ cup
- Beat these ingredients together.
- Take one cup of milk and let it heat over milk and simmer it a little
- The milk must be poured into the mixture, prepared before. While you are pouring the warm milk, whisk it continuously so that no lumps are formed.
- The mixture should be poured back into the saucepan and stirred constantly while on low heat. Stir it until thickens enough to coat the back of the spoon. The mixture should not be boiled because boiling will totally destroy its texture and form clumps. If the mixture is no longer smooth then you need to pour it into a blender and it will be smooth again.
- When its thickness is of right consistency, pour it in a bowl, cover it and put into a refrigerator to cool it down.
- Finish the mixture with the help of a 1 cup of heavy cream. Pour it into the mixture and before freezing add the flavor of your choice.
- Freeze the ice cream by putting it in the ice cream maker.
Make ice cream without an ice cream maker:
- Do not worry if you do not own an ice cream maker because there are ways of making ice cream without an ice cream maker. You can make an ice cream by freezing it in freezer.
- Start with a custard base ice cream and you will have a smooth, creamy textured ice cream. Pour the custard in to a container and put it in the freezer for at least 4-5 hours. You need to check the ice cream and stir it every 45 minutes. If you want silky ice cream then you can eat it as soon as it’s taken out of the freezer or let it freeze overnight.
